People would be crazy to book conventions in this city now. The police are under extreme scrutiny and not willing to engage criminals. I don't blame them.
Baltimore is no longer a destination for free thinking citizens of the world, it has been exposed as a city that hates law and order.
To get a firearm permit in Maryland, you need to demonstrate that there is a credible threat to your life.
I think every Baltimore citizen now has a case.
I never realized Baltimore was some huge tourism mecca, what next Ohio's tourism is going to drop?
Baltimore is a great city with the Orioles, Ravens, the Inner Harbor, Rams Head Live, Horseshoe Casino and many other attractions. But I've never know it as a tourist attraction for anyone outside of the state.
Have any of you ever been to Baltimore? The riots were not around the inner harbor or the ballparks. There was some minor rioting near Camden but the Inner Harbor is very different than Baltimore proper, where the riots occurred. I've been to this area many times, and there is no reason anyone would cancel because of the riots. They were in a different part of the city. It's strange, the Inner Harbor area is largely white, the rest of Baltimore largely black. The contrast is likely another factor adding weight to the resentment that ignited in rioting after the death of Freddie Gray, as Baltimore is completely different than the Inner Harbor.

The inner Harbor does attract people to get away for the weekend. We go for to the convention center every year for one of the trade shows. You could easily get lost and end up in the bad sections. People come in from all over the world. I've talked to several people who won't be going this year.

Baltimore won't be hurt by this. And there are bad sections in any major city.
