So quantify injuries based on jogging, bicycling, fishing etc..... How much does that affect our healthcare costs compared to obesity and tobacco? Stop playing "gotcha" and think please.....

Marijuana most certainly can cause health problems.

Depends on the tax rate. Put a very high tax on anything and you create a black market.
You said "thrive". Black markets will always exist.

The legal pot businesses in WA say that they are not able to turn a profit due to taxes. Right now there is a 25% excise tax on each of 4 levels: producer, processor/distributor, retailer, and customer. The black market continues to thrive, and there is still plenty of drug war work for police.

In fact 'legalization' could well turn out to be a boon for drug warrior police. Now black market pot is not just illegal, it represents a threat to tax revenue, There is more incentive than ever for government to press the war on drugs.

Simple solution is to lower taxes and rethink the regulations. The issue isn't legalization, but the implementation.

Greedy idiots in public office. But that's almost always the source of our problems. The same thing is happening with cigarettes in NYC. A huge portion of their cigs are black market. The idiots in charge don't understand human nature. Maybe somebody should make these idiots read about the Boston Tea Party.
