But that wasn't the worst of it. The data is only up to 2005 when huge amounts of false wealth were being generated on paper that didn't exist and which show up in those numbers. Much of this fake wealth occured in places like California, where real estate values skyrocketed through house flipping, speculation, and cheap money.
It all went "poof" in 2008/09. So any conclusions drawn from those charts have bearing on today's situation. Furthermore their definition of Red/Blue state is based on who voted for Kerry. LOL!
Moral of the story - When you see claims made with statistics, yet no source is included with those statistics as was done in the OP, then suspect ye olde "rope a dope". Seems to have roped up several here.
If you look at that map, you'll see that on the entire west coast, as soon as you leave the coasts, is a near solid bloc of "red".
Regardless, the question really is, if the red counties of the United States were to secede from the blue counties of the United States. Which would end up more successful?
Well, lets understand, the red areas have nearly all of the natural resources, and the vast majority of the land.
If the red parts of America seceded, the blue areas would turn into total garbage. Blue needs red, red does not need blue.
While the media is focused on CA and how "broke" CA is, true Data shows that CA is actually doing just fine. CA is doing so good, that they're able to give the Govt tons of money to help support the poorer Red States.
Total Federal spending on a per state basis has no relevance without breaking it down.
Answer this question for me, NM a liberal leaning state always tops this list. I can tell you it is not because of welfare or direct spending for the state. Why do you think they receive so much Federal dollars?
