Quite a large percentage of the worlds poor live within a few miles of the ocean or rely on glaciers for a water source, this will have the greatest impact on that demographic and they do not have any alternatives. They will suffer a great deal more than wealthy nations and, we can expect additional migration to other nations and more world wide instability.

So if the Pope is right about this, he must also be right in protecting Bishops who have sexually abused small children in their churches? Amiright?

Nope, which is one of the myriad of reasons I remain an ex-Catholic. Still, in the overall Bronze Age mindset of Christianity any breath of 21st century air is welcomed.
