The story I read called it a "HATE CRIME" and specifically identified the guy as white. If it had been a black shooter, the race of the person would not have been printed, and if it was a black shooter at a mostly white church, it would not be called a hate crime.

In the shooter's own words it was a hate crime: " “I have to do it. You rape our women and you’re taking over our country. And you have to go.”
