Nice spin, I clicked on one of the links and they are quoting the shooter, just like the are quoting this shooter. I guess quoting someone means endorsing their views
I think a major difference is, despite the fact that the Hartford massacre was also clearly race motivated, they spend time trying to see if his racism is justified based on the way he perceived treatment at the hands of the white guys.
Also: The Hartford case did not elicit response from the President, nor days and days of front page coverage.
I think it will be interesting if the media spends as much time examining the background behind the Charleston shooter's maniacal claims as they did the Hartford shooter's, or if we can all just be satisfied and content to just call him someone hate filled and motivated by racism.
If a black man goes into a white church and kills 9 white people, it will be on the news.
Any mass shooting of this nature would be on the national news and be a huge story because it feeds the fuel of the populace. This one just so happens to be a racially motivated crime. There was one in Wisconsin not too long ago where some sheiks were killed by a crazy white gunman too and it was religious oriented, he probably thought they were Muslims.
The white on white mass shooters are spoken of on the national news too when many people are killed at once.
The one in CO, the movie theater shooting, involved a very diverse group of victims and it was national news.
Mass murder is national news no matter the race.
Yes, it will be on the news. But the races of the criminal and the victims will be ignored. And if the term "hate crime" is actually uttered it will be in regards to how this "wasn't a hate crime, it's just one mentally ill individual".
15.7% means that blacks are overrepresented slightly. It's probably just noise, though.
The article doesn't mention the race of the perpetuators. Where are you getting your numbers from?

There are very few black criminals. There are few criminals in general in our country.
Please note that our prison population is about 2.25 million. About 1 million are black. There are 40 million black people in the country. Many of them have been in prison for multiple years and the prison population has remained pretty stable over the past Decade.
less than 1% of black Americans are even arrested for anything in a given year. You and those like you only associate us with crime because of the media's influence and our country's adherence to the ideology that blacks are inferior and criminally minded when truthfully very few of us are criminals at all.
They are in the ratings business. They don't get paid to put out content that doesn't drive people to watch their programs.
Is this really true though? Did that many people really want to hear endlessly about Ferguson? About Trayvon Martin? About what that one basketball coach said to his girlfriend? About Bruce Jenner, ferchrissakes? I don't know. And news organizations of many forms are going down the tubes these days. Deservedly so, if you ask me.

None of this addresses what people here are saying. Yes, black victims of violent crime are underrepresented in the media. Some black kid gets shot on the streets of Detroit and the people at the New York Times, NPR, CNN, Fox News, etc., etc., etc. don't give a goddamn. If some white person gets killed by a black stickup kid they likewise don't care. But if there's a black victim they can portray as a victim of a white racist, they're all over it. None of these studies refute that.
BTW, I'll bet not one of you white foutraged liberals would want to live next door to me or have my son date your daughter. I'm black. You just like to spew your foutrage from Mom's basement.
I've long wondered if black people believe in white liberals' professed love for them, which in most cases is so obviously phony. I'd bet that most black folks don't really care much about it, though.
White guy commits crime against blacks for racist reasons, it's wall to wall coverage on the evening news. Black guy commits crime against whites for racist reasons, story either stays local (no national coverage) or quickly disappears on national news.
It is not only race, it is any liberal notion and has been for a long time. That is why FOX News is so disturbing to the liberals because they are so use to having a liberal slant, that anything more balanced seems like right wing extremism to them.
The answer of course is simple, most people in the media (both print and TV media) are liberals. Therefore their perspective and bias will come through.
