That would be a disaster in the modern era of partisan politics and bickering. We can't get qualfied judges on the bench because of this now.

There is nothing in the constitution that discusses a "two party" system.

There is much more at play than that. For example, recently, MSNBC denied a presidential candidate the right to be in a debate. The media decides who is a viable candidate any more.

More's the pity.
