2) He noticed people making racist jokes, but didn't think much of it at the time.
3) He felt that blacks were more racist than whites.
4) He thought Zimmerman was in the right, and he didn't understand why blacks were so quick to defend Trayvon.
5) He realized that the vast majority of interracial crime was committed by blacks. But that fact is often ignored.
6) He saw that the same things happening here, were also happening in Europe.
7) He believes blacks are on average less intelligent, and are more prone to violence.
8) Black people view everything through a "racial filter". They are more "racially aware" and more easily offended.
9) Blacks are always held to a lower standard than whites(Bill Maher calls this this soft bigotry of low-expectations).
10) Blacks can behave obnoxiously in public, because no one expects better of them.
11) The vast majority of white people never owned slaves, but all of us are now being punished for it.
12) That there were very few stories where black slaves were treated badly. Most were treated well(IE Uncle-Toms).
13) That segregation was actually good, and was about protecting both blacks and whites from each other.
14) That segregation protected white culture from being polluted by black culture. Whites now want to "act black".

29) That since Vietnam, America is nothing to be proud of, and is not worth fighting for.
30) That a large number of people seem to know all of this to be true, but that no one is doing anything about it.
When did Dylan Rooff say any of this? And you say you believe it too? abd 26-30 have problems, if you do, with 24, and 26-30.
I know most people don't want to hear it, but it isn't only loners and the mentally ill who think like Dylann Roof, or Brent Tarrant(New Zealand Shooter). Most conservatives probably agree with nearly every word in the New Zealand shooter's manifesto.
While it definitely takes someone who is lonely, depressed, and angry to want to kill people; I think it might do people some good to understand why so many people are so angry.

I posted this as new topic (related to one of Charleston threads, link) to focus discussion on what I see as real causes of Sandy Hook, Charleston and most similar mass slayings.
I came to be conscious of this issue with McGovern's cashiering of Eagleton as a candidate in the 1972 campaign. This sorry episode is part of what started my path away from believing that liberals are necessarily good people. I had thought they really believed in love, help and compassion before that. I was 15 at time, and had bought into the "peace, love and helping hand" myth the liberals and Democrats presented themselves as adhering to. I believed strongly then, and still do believe, that people are capable of making something of themselves after facing obstacles. To have unceremoniously tossed such a person off the ticket showed a total lack of spine and leadership we see all too often.
In recent years there have been other mass shootings. Jared Lochner, James Holmes, Elliot Rodger (Santa Barbara) and Adam Lanza (Sandy Hook) come to mind. All of these people were obviously troubled. All of these people, except maybe Adam Lanza, were in regular contact with other students, teachers and administrators at their respective schools. Dylan Roof was in regular contact with friends, roommates and his parents. The societal problem is that it is easier to ignore people who are not sociable and not pleasant to be with than to engage them.
With this horrific church massacre, we are treated to lectures about gun control and about racism. People forget that both in this episode and Sandy Hook parents without any apparent mental health pathologies were the ones that obtained the weapons, not the mentally ill adult-aged children. Guns are everywhere so efforts to control legally purchased guns are doomed to futility. The most those laws will do is prevent people who would hurt no one from owning a gun.
It's an odd mindset - that one man can be so powerful that people don't have any control over their own behavior. How about instead examining the state of our mental health and health care system?
It seems evident that this was a poorly adjusted person who had probably been sending off signals for quite some time that she was losing her rationality. Either the people in her life weren't able to recognize it, weren't inclined to do anything about it or there wasn't help available.
This situation didn't just begin to occur. Mentally ill people have been losing it right in front of us since the dawn of time. Most of us either don't want anything to do with it or don't have a clue what to do. If you do see a problem approaching and know what needs to be done good luck getting help with it.
Oxane Taub, the purported former life partner of David DePape — the man who allegedly attacked Paul Pelosi inside his California home — says DePape has "been mentally ill for a long time."
Where were their peers? Oxane Taub is jailed but she seems to have her senses. Why didn't she do anything?
