US military exercise in Texas sparks fears of martial law
"Bastrop (United States) (AFP) - The conspiracy theories grew wilder as the massive military exercise grew closer: food riots and martial law were coming to the United States, some said.
Dissidents would be assassinated, Wal-Marts turned into prison camps, foreign troops brought in to help.
Then the governor of Texas lent credence to the paranoia by ordering the state's National Guard to monitor a weekslong special operations training exercise called Jade Helm 15 involving 1,200 troops and seven states.
It is all a trick to see how the citizens will react and what counter measures they will employ. With this knowledge, the real takeover will be easier.
So... has martial law been declared yet? Or is that still to come next week?
I bet conservatives out there are vigorously polishing their.... ...guns.
Conservatives? If you say so. Anyway, herebouts, we are used to seeing large, military movement. Hardly alarming to see. Most of the time, notices are put out, about possible traffic problems and such, that a given exercise of operation will cause, and the effected roads and areas are posted.
As to this Jade Helm, Wal Mart internment, imminent impostion of martial law, even with the huge presence the military has here, the feds couldn't pull it off. Thing is, what good will it do to seize control of the populace of a few areas, and what would that accomplish? If the WHOLE country.can't be "pacified", all at once, the government could'nt ;hope to gain a thing. Just a stirred up hornets nest.
Any such plan they may or may not have, are nowhere close to being able to work. I'm not a full blown "conservative", , but I'm right of center. As are most of my friends and acquaintances. None of us are "polishing our...guns". Or hoarding bottled water, food, ammo or any other such things. We are well stocked on such requirements, but not because we fear a coup. Mainly emergency supplies for natural disaster. Most of us have had experience with being cut off and isolated, because of fires and storms, mostly.
These "conservatives" you mention...they aren't a very numerous crowd. However, in keeping with the spirit of your post, I will hazard a guess that "liberals" , out there, are getting ready to line the streets , waving pictures of our exalted leader, and welcome the occupying troops , like VE day in Paris ? Time to celebrate your "liberation"? Lol, paints just as funny an image as your "conservative" one.

Wow those Texans truly are demented. You know, there's supposed to be another round of BRAC adjustments coming up soon ... maybe we aught to close all those bases in Texas so they don't feel occupied!
This sort of paranoia - and the fact that the GOVERNOR OF TEXAS - buys into these absurd theories is an indicator of just how far to the right the Texas GOP has gone. Texans should be embarrassed.
There are a handful of Texans getting paranoid a little. For the most part, the rest of us know that the US military and the UN couldn't control Texas. There is too much land mass, too many large cities and too many people that shoot well.
