God know why would we want to shake our history? The struggles within the Democratic Party to make it more inclusive and progressive are one of the shining points of the Civil Rights era. From Fanni Lou Hamer and the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party in 1964 to the election of Barak Obama, Democrats of all hues and nationalities have fought relentlessly to make the Party what it is today. This is a simple fact that Republicans with their "on the plantation" bs just don't get. We aren't outside the plantation, we help run it.
And what is the Democratic Party today?
Hillary Clinton is running virtually unopposed.
Far from putting distance between them and their shameful past, Democrats are busy creating a new shameful future.

Unopposed? Have you heard of Bernie running for office? His speeches are beating Hillary in attendance 10 to 1. She's not unopposed unless she has cornered the market on roping off the media trying to ask questions.

I suppose the Democrats will have to have 15 or 16 contenders vying for the nomination before the conservatives consider her "unopposed."

We'll look at you trying to slip that Democratic lie into the conversation. Any proof there tiger?
Well, no one here knows for sure which party Roof favored, but we can draw some pretty good conclusions from the fact that Roof was a big fan of that White Supremacist group that donated $65,000 to GOP candidates such as Ted Cruz. Now - because of all the bad press - those folks are scrambling to return the money.
Yup. And you folks held onto Robert Byrd, a member of and recruiter for the Ku Klux Klan.
So, let's see.
A politician who repudiates his racist past stays a Democrat and a politician who refuses to do sp jumps over to the GOP.
And you wonder WHY Blacks won't vote for the GOP?
You can deny that the GOP is racist all you want, but the folks on the receiving end of racism KNOW which side treats them badly and makes a clear statement about that with their VOTES.
You may fool yourself, but you don't fool the voters.
