Thought I'd like to bring up the connection between Dylan Roof, the 39 people who died in the Heaven's Gate cult, and Michael Vick and his dog killing ways: NIKE SNEAKERS!
Hell, the General Lee ain't got nothing on these shoes of evil!!!! Demand they are immediately recalled off every shelf in America.
Please for all that is sacred in humanity, round up every pair of Nike's you can find and burn them. God knows the evil that lives in that rubber.

Nike sneakers do not have a legacy that is intertwined with white supremacy, blacks owned as slave labor, blacks lynched from trees, etc.
The confederate flag does. That is EXPRESSLY at the core of the identity of that flag, because it was a prominent core aspect of the identity of the people who created and proudly raised that flag. It represents a society based on a philosophy of white supremacy. White supremacy is not a peripheral potential interpretation of that flag based on some people; it IS that flag.

I'm pretty sure it just represents a battle flag. It never flew over a slave nation like the American flag did.

And the people who were battling, who were they and what were they battling for?
I know..."States' rights"... (to own black slaves).
They were white supremacists, and that was a core aspect of what they were fighting for. Slavery and white supremacy were core pillars of Southern economy and culture. Why do you think white supremacists today embrace that flag as symbol of their philosophy? Simple: because that's what the flag always was.

So, I get where you're going with this analogy, but it's still an awful analogy.
You're clearly referring to the gun debate when people say guns should be banned as they can be used to harm others. Which is true, they can be. What you're doing is just saying 'well this is true, and this is true, so they must be connected' which doesn't really pan out.
Let's use another example: Hitler and Stalin. Both of them had mustaches, thus, mustaches make people commit genocide, seeing as both committed mass genocide as well. See the problem?
Gun don't really work in this way though because guns can actually logically be traced to the outcome we're referring to. The Nikes didn't kill anyone but the guns did.
