I've noticed this. Maybe this will be the news that conservatives will need to accept that the earth is not flat.
"It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:" -Isaiah 40:22
"He stretches out the north over the empty place, and hangs the earth upon nothing." -Job 26:7
If Anglican Archbishop of Armagh (and Primate of All Ireland) James Ussher published a chronology that purported to time and date creation to the night before October 27, 4004 BC, how does that make you think the Bible says the earth is only 6000 years old? (News flash: even scientists Isaac Newton and Johannes Kepler agreed with it, so the science is settled.)
Moreover, how can you prove that carbon dating can show how old a really old object is if you weren't around to calibrate the linearity of the decay of the isotope on which you're basing the model?

Yep, it describes a flat disc. With a dome over it.
The same flat disc earth floating over water with a solid dome over it theme runs throughout the Bible. It reflects Ancient Near East cosmological views, which is hardly surprising. This has been known by historians for a long time. It's really only the modern-day fundamentalist biblical inerrantists/Creationists who try to argue that the biblical writers wrote of a 'spherical earth' and not a flat disc earth.
For published scholarly work, there is a wealth of information available on the ancient near east, like this anthology:
"The Age of the Earth has been a matter of interest to humans for millennia. All verifiable evidence indicates that the Earth is only about 6,000 years old. Yet with circular reasoning and implausible assumptions, liberals insist that the Earth is approximately 4.54 billion years."
