You know what the problem is? Leftists who voted for these kinds of policies will soon flee those overly taxed and regulated bastions of liberalism for the lower taxed and lower cost of living conservative states and cities. We've seen that happen to Colorado, Virginia, and yes, even California. They are like locusts. Not content on making their own hometowns and states unbearable to live in, they turn around and seek out areas with lower costs of living/taxes, but then vote for the same politicians and policies that made their previous homes unlivable. The definition of insanity. I say look out for North Carolina, as that state is next up on the list.

Mia Love, who as mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, supported "large" tax increases to support infrastructure due to a massive influx of new residents . . . so, basically, the things that government is supposed to use tax dollars for, as opposed to massive new entitlements.

Nothing is complex in Alabama...they just went on a conservative dreamland spree of cutting taxes everywhere, so now they have to raise taxes to make ends meet. Kansas is another example of failure of conservative government policies.

Strong claims without proof to support. Ultimately, though, this conversation is really silly as Alabama (and shows liberals' desperation), even with these tax increases, still has drastically lower taxes, lower cost of living, etc., than most liberal states (it certainly has lower taxes and a lower cost of living than my home state of NY). Chicago has responded to declining taxable retail sales, and to the rise of online purchases, by adding a 9% 'cloud tax'. Users of Netflix, Amazon Web Services, Spotify, etc..., will now be billed a 9% tax based on their IP address or street address.

Why is it that Democrats love high taxes? Their whole agenda is for bigger government saying that they can do more to help the people. Is that really the truth? Bigger government really just means more power and control for the government – paid for by the common taxpayer. This is the opposite of “The American Way.”
What is "The American Way"? How big was government under Reagan, W. Bush?
Republicans are total hypocrites - they like government spending and government size increases when they are in power, but abhor it when they are not.
Couldn't rep you again, but this is spot on. This whole meme about the Republicans being the party of small government is a myth. Republicans grow the government massively every time they get in power, all the while claiming the opposite.
