Sorry, but while that is somewhat true, it isn't the whole story! The United States wasn't and isn't the only country in the world where slavery was (and currently is) practiced. In fact, during the Feudal period, the Lords owned everything, including the Serfs! Over 90% of the population were, in effect, slaves to the Lords!
Slavery is still practiced in some parts of the world today, and ALL races are subject to it, not just black people.
It must also be remembered that discrimination wasn't (and isn't) just aimed at black people. There have been times in the U.S. when the Irish, Chinese, Jews, and others were subject to severe discrimination. Even today, usually in the name of "health", discrimination is alive and well, and growing. It is accepted against smokers, and the obese, "For their own good, and the good of Society!" Sounds familiar, doesn't it? As I recall, a similar statement was made about "keeping the ****** in their place" many years ago (you fill in the word that seems apropos to you).
You poor, poor thing.

You're actually drawing parallels between the inhumanity of slavery and limitations now righly placed on smokers? For real? One practice is purely voluntary (YES it is); the other imposed by brute force. Exposure to one can cause severe health problems among non-participants; non-exposure to the other caused no such difficulties.

Please specifically address how one's limited right to smoke in PUBLIC places is akin to the unspeakable cruelty of slavery.
