Why not? They long have "cleaned up" Bugs Bunny cartoons.
You have to find old VHS recordings and perhaps some LaserDisk (remember those?) to see the unedited cartoons most of us watched afterschool/Saturday mornings.
I'm sure the cross dressing is still in there though.
Last nite I was watching a three stooges marathon. I know silly me still watching the three stooges at my age. Anyways in some episodes certain groups were depicted that would not be acceptable in today's PC environment. I was thinking how long will it be before the PC left starts banning these old classics. How sad that we've reached a point that we can no longer laugh at ourselves. I can only hope that these timeless classics will reign in comedy heaven forever.
So what is your point? Is it that the racism and bigotry in the Three Stooges should go unchallenged and accepted? That discrimination that happened in the past should get a pass and everyone should just laugh at it?
I think your point is you have no point or that you are a closet racist looking for ways to get away with racism and bigotry.
On a side note: I did not realize The Three Stooges contained instances of racist language but it does now explain why my ultra conservative father would be attracted to such low-brow humorists.
The three stooges and so many of those old shorts and TV shows can be offensive to some people.
Another offensive habit that the PC crowd would like to wipe out is smoking. If you watch any old black and white movie everyone is smoking. If a kid was to see that he might think it looked cool and start smoking so BAN IT !
BUT instead of banning or altering the movies, shorts or TV shows that the PC police find offensive why can't they be used to teach the current generation?
When kids watch the 3 stooges and are inspired to slap their little brother upside the head most parents would step in and say "we don't hit each other" or something like that.
If the kids ask why a person of colour is being portrayed in a certain way we should tell them that "the world was not a very nice place back then and people didn't understand they were being mean" or something like that.
No one can erase or gloss over the ugly parts of history. They should be talked about and explained.
Personally I rather have Abbot and Costello running this country than the current administration.
at least people would be kept laughing while they screwed over the country.
