That's because there weren't the large-scale riots in SLC afterwards. The riots ballooned the Ferguson story - otherwise it would have faded away soon too.
it's not the shooting itself that was the reason for the media frenzy, it was the aftermath.

Most murders is poor people killing other poor people. That's true among both blacks AND whites. A higher percentage of blacks are poor so their murder rate is higher as well. It has more to do with economics than race.
Ah people commit crime and even random killing because "poor" defense. But there are more poor white people in poverty, they don't commit as high a crime nor target blacks as often for violent crime. Same thing with Hispanics. They are a large group of the poor but they don't commit as high crime rate as blacks and attack blacks as often. Poverty does not explain it, but being criminally inclined might explain poverty.

But it does have something to do with race. Blacks are 27 times as likely to attack a white than a white is likely to attack a black and 8 times as likely to attack a Hispanic than vice versa. How's that for disparate impact? And blacks attacks whites about as often as they attack other blacks. They should at least keep their violent crime to themselves. But the media would have you to believe it was just the opposite.
Not over every time a white person is a victim of interracial violent crime, and they certainly don't riot over a cop killing a white criminal. Whites are killed twice as often by cops.

Yes but if whites rioted over a black cop shooting a white criminal, or even a black criminal killing an innocent white, the media narrative would be different. It would be look how "racist!" white people are. Police aren't targeting "them". They're targeting criminals and who ever is most likely to be a criminal, young, male etc.
Care to share your data for this? Given the percentage of the population that is white and the percentage of the population that is black, the rate isn't anywhere close to comparable. Based on population, blacks, even according to your claim, are killed at a higher rate than whites.
