All politicians are in it to win it, they aren't for the American people at all any more.

There are different degrees of their corruption, but all of them on both sides are in it for personal gain.

I agree, they are both stupid, although they seem to take turns being stupid. Dems were stupid during Bush years and GOP has been stupid during Obama years.

Politicians are a self aggrandizing lot....many start out as lawyers...who possess some sort of ego driven mantra that bars (excuse the pun) them from being able to help themselves from seeking out power, control and self importance. The positions seem to attract the lowest of the low in terms of moral turpitude.

Stupid? I don't think so. Cunning? Definitely? Wouldn't hesitate to stab their own mother in the back...and most of them would stab her in the heart while smiling (and lying) to her face. They just seem to be unable to help themselves.

Republican? Democrat? It doesn't matter. They are only affiliated with a party because it is a means to a self satisfying end.

Some day...similar to the guy who flew his plane onto the white house lawn, or the guy who refused to pay taxes until he got an accounting....someone with a stronger patriotic compass than me (I am ashamed to say) will take one of these guys out to the woodshed and pummel them within an inch of his/her life and tell them if they don't stop the cheating, the lying, the fraud, the lining of their own, and their friend's, pockets on the backs of the taxpayers, the beatings will continue. After a half dozen or so of these "come to jesus" moments, politicians MIGHT get the message and we will see real reform.

I wouldn't count on it happening any time soon. For some strange reason the people are just not upset about it....or have come to accept it as being the "way it is".....enough to deal with it. Yet.

Stupid? No. They've manipulated the political system to their benefit. They divide the people every chance they get, control the masses, and remain in power all the while claiming they're doing it for the good of the country. It's we, the people, generally speaking, who are the stupid ones for allowing our political process to become so corrupt and allowing it to continue as such.

Other. Libertarian here. Both parties have become corrupted, seek to further expand the government via wasteful spending, rig the game in favor of their corporate cronies, and intrude further into our private lives further erroding our rights and individual liberties. A lot of this though is the fault of we the people for continuing to play into the partisan hackery in thinking that one party is better than the other, while they continue to divide us, and further pillage and plunder this country to serve their own interests along with their elitist friends.
