And so Seattle continues with their legacy of making stupid decisions that will solve absolutely nothing, ignores the real problem and punishes the law abiding.

Sounds like a decent idea to me. Guns are ridiculously inexpensive, why not tax them heavy and put the money to good use. Lord knows how much guns cost any economy in terms of increased security measures, police hours, legal fees, medical expenses, death care industry, etc.
Guns cost to society is probably on par with all illegal drug activity. And by taxing legal gun sales, illegal guns become more expensive too, so all shooters pay. I'd recommend 50%.
That consideration should be applied to the perp who commits the crime. Tax the criminal along with sentencing. Tax the police union for failing to protect and serve.
Tax town's elected officials out of their own pockets where clusters of violent crime exceded 5 incidents in one year and whose vote put in place ineffective gun laws.
Tax the car brand which the perp used to arrive at the scene of the crime.
Tax the family that raised the perp.
Tax the obgyn that delivered the perp or rather charge the dc with injuring the perps brain on delivery. Perhaps the anesthesiologist was at fault?
That 'tax' is meant as a deterent to gun sales and does nothing to prevent violent crime. Less guns, less crime is an academic theory which is not applicable in reality. Works great in theory as a theoretical truth when calculated in isolation.
Sounds like all of the heat from the unusual warmth they're having out there is getting to people's brains out there, making the progressive morons running that city extra loony! Hint: adding extra taxes to gun sales will not deter criminals from illegally obtaining guns, which means they won't be paying a tax for them, if paying for them at all, but it will deter law abiding citizens from purchasing them and for the means of protecting themselves.
I think its a good idea, only if the money is used for crime prevention and programs aimed at lowering recidivism only.
