Natural disasters such as Sandy are unavoidable. Communities will get destroyed, some will be rebuilt others not.


Sea level rise (and fall) is also unavoidable. Coastlines change in time.




Still many many people flocking to coastal communities, don't seem to be bothered by a 3 mm a year rise global sea level.

Sea level has risen by around 6 inches in the last century and the last decade the rate has increased to over 3mm per year, that is significant because of the short period of time.

Putting hurricanes aside many of these communities are flooding on a very frequent basis, and are one hurricane away from a very large disaster.

Yes people still buying in coastal communities, many have a short memory but many others are being impacted by fairly regular flooding some just from high tides.
