Not, not a loon. He's just saying the things that would get others shut down by the PC police. His rants, if nothing else, open a dialog on some subjects that are considered "hands off", such as sanctuary cities and states.
It's refreshing to see someone who isn't cowed by the social justice intimidation campaigns. This appeals to a lot of people who are sick of seeing people immediately cave as soon as they encounter the slightest bit of blowback from the frothing PC police. He's gotten the attention of a lot of people, which is just what he wanted. Now that he has people listening I hope he moves on to other topics.
He'll drop out again once his attention ***** tank is filled. Hopefully he'll lose $1 Billion before then.
Big Don is in it to win it, and very well just might. I sure hope he does, he has my vote, I'm one of the multitude who has had it with candy azz, do nothing politicians.

I don't like the guy, but Trump is not a lunatic or an idiot. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing, and pretty much doesn't give a damn. I don't think anything that has occurred to him over the past month has surprised him. All he cares about is attention and further hyping the Trump brand. And so far, he has received plenty of what he wants.

As our society has gone further toward celebrating over-the-top, vapid celebraties, he has stepped up his game to stay in check - just like so many others who depend on outrageous behavior to promote their brand in lieu of anything of substance or value.
He's not looking for votes, he's looking for his next TV show. Many question whether he even has any wealth left.
All you have to do is go to the P&OC or Elections forum of C-D and you'll see that he has a very large, loud, vocal faction of right wing conservatives who think what he is saying is exactly right......
Is there any demographic, that you don't agree with, that you would not refer to as a "right wing conservative"? From what I can see, there are also large number of ex-Democrats who also support Trump.
He's just a ruthless self-promoter with a huge ego -- nothing more, nothing less. He's a trust fund baby who has been given every advantage and who also doesn't believe in bad publicity. Just another elitist who was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple. His off-kilter rants energize the lunatic fringe the same way most other right-wing pundits do. At the end of the day, this guy will never win the nomination and he knows it. He's in it because it's the biggest media stage and he knows that he'll never have to back up a word he says. He'd call it a win-win because his goal was never to be nominated.

The Irony is that he's actually highlighted the hypocrisy of the entire right wing movement because he's for gun control, abortion, gay marriage and a host of other liberal causes. But because he called the Entire Mexican culture rapists, murderers and drug dealers, he gets a pass on all the other issues by the right wing conservative.
He realizes that there is a faction in America who are desperate to HATE. He's been able to focus that hate on Mexicans. Not all illegals..........but all Mexicans.
It's a sad commentary on the state of America.

You're wrong. You're parroting what someone else told you. Trump said that Mexico isn't sending their best (which they aren't). That right there tells you that Trump believes many Mexicans are worthy to come here. He said that many of those coming here are rapists, murderers and drug dealers (which they are). Trump told the truth. It's shameful that people like you have to lie and twist Trump's words just to satisfy yourself about him.
As President he'll do the same to the Russians, the Chinese and the Iranians.
