Looks like $800 for singles, and $1600 for couples.

My first thought was "Yo! Big old high-def LCD 1080p TV here I come!"

But then I thought -- hey, they're imported. That won't help the US economy much. In fact, everything I could think of -- electronics, new tires for the car, even vintage wines -- is imported.

Can someone suggest good purchases I can make with my $1600 that will help the domestic economy? And I do intend to spend it...

I'm torn. I'm either going to donate it directly to pay off a tiny fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the national debt.... or donate it to the presidential candidate of my choice who realizes that increasing the national debt to fund a $800 check to people is irresponsible.

I wouldn't help pay off the national debt as then they will have an "extra" $800 to spend.. I considered spending it but I will save it instead towards an IRA fund.

But..but....but.....you've gotta spend it.

That's what an economic stimulus is all about.

None of this prudence business. Is your patriotic gland malfunctioning or something?

Isn't Bose made in America? Buy a Bose surround sound!

Edit: Does anyone know the qualifications to get this $800?
