Reagan couldn't even do that today with the current political make up. So I doubt it is something we will ever see in our lifetime.

That's probably true. If a candidate can completely capture that swing vote, then maybe.

Why do you think that? Reagan won Oregon, California, Vermont, Massachusetts, Hawaii...places Republicans don't win.

That is how I remember where FOX is on our cable channels; the number of states our "president" thinks we have.

I suppose it helps when the person running has been a member of both parties in his lifetime. It was like a Democrat running as a Republican. You can't tell the difference between the parties anymore anyway with everybody just saying what they think will get them elected.

Why do you think yes or no?
Maybe, if the GOP nominates someone like Trump or Santorum.

Because this isn't 1980 and these states are much more liberal today.

I think if a very popular actor was to run he could sweep it being so few people normally vote.

The only way I can see that happening today is that if there was an incumbent who become so unpopular he was disliked not only by the opposing party but his own party as well. The challenger could then come in and sweep a majority of states in a landslide. Thats about the only scenario I can think of where this can happen today. The two parties are just too polarized.
