Are you as close to Mexico as El Paso?

Likewise, if you're illegally here, you should be deported. She didn't say anything about the individual being here illegal. All she said was that he was up for citizenship.

Depends on where in El Paso you are.

I can sit on my patio and see the mountains of Sonora quite clearly. I'm right in southern Cochise County.

We already debated this earlier. I wouldn't call being a solidary identity group constantly pointing fingers, complaining and blaming fully assimilated. The more assimilated ones are called "Uncle Toms" and "acting white". 'Member you 'member.

He immigrated legally. He would not have been able to establish a legitimate business if he did not. Most people don't understand that it takes years and lots of money to become a US citizen. Now our government slaps these people in the face with promises of "pathway to citizenship".

So you are not really a border town like El Paso where people cross daily from a Mexican city to your city.

You're trying to use a small subset of people to generalize. Black swan theory doesn't ever work.

There's plenty of black people who don't act white and are assimilated. They just go to school, get an education, and have jobs like any other American. They don't all "act white" by sipping tea at noon and playing bocce.

I have to agree with this. There are some people who want to have their own culture within the United States.

I agree.

I don't understand how mtl1 could possibly claim that black people "cannot" assimilate.

Blacks have always been a part of our American culture and they speak English. They aren't foreigners to our country.
