It must kill him and you for him to come out that way. Does he dislike himself? Just curious.
I would think that most gays are progressive moderates and that there is a certain amount of self- loathing if they're conservative leaning. We are God's people.

I would say the majority of the country is "indifferent" about gay rights. Meaning they won't throw a fit for gay marriage, but won't cry if it's taken away either.

I also think the media exaggerates the number. Remember, it was turned down by voters in liberal California. It lost in "swing state" North Carolina a few years ago.
