Do other countries have road rage problems like this? I ask that as a serious question?
In fairness, I've not been anywhere close to being in enough people's cars to adequately determine if it's a cultural problem, but I hear enough about road rage from various sources to know it happens way more than it should. And I've seen people shout from their car and give various rude gestures while driving.
Seriously, where outside of a car is that sort of behavior even sort of tolerated? If you were in an elevator and someone leaned into you a bit or stepped on your shoe, you wouldn't turn to them as tell them to **** themselves. But far too many people would happily do that while in a car.
Road rage is way more the problem here than guns, if you ask me.
There's a myth that career criminals commit a lot of murders. Most murders are the result of arguments and very frequently arguments between family members.
Do you want to provide a source to back up your statement that murders are commited primarily between family members.
"A couple of new studies reveal the gun-control hypesters’ worst nightmare…more people are buying firearms, while firearm-related homicides and suicides are steadily diminishing. What crackpots came up with these conclusions? One set of statistics was compiled by the U.S. Department of Justice. The other was reported by the Pew Research Center."
I'm sure I could find a more recent source if I was more interested.

The data are a little old but there really isn't a reason to think the situation has changed. Of 58 thousand felons facing trial in 2006, fewer than 400 were for murder.

People view their car as extensions of their homes, I suppose. Maybe they view any kind of traffic transgression as a threatening gesture. You're not face to face with the other guy( just like on the internet) and its easy to lash out at somebody you don't know.
People do stupid things every day and they do it in cars and distractions have increased. Social skills have hit new lows.
Both these guys were idiots and like I said, normal people would have avoided a tragedy.
Watch road rage videos of Russia where everybody dives like a vodka soaked psychopath and you'd swear they let farm animals operate motor vehicles. Then watch the hammers, knives and clubs come out when the drivers get out of their cars to face off. I also look at videos of crazies on busses and subways who act like animals to anybody they think they can intimidate, not to mention also in fast food places and stores.
