That said the time frame is just a little too convenient, this occurred just a short time after the first letter of inquiry was sent from Congress. Secondly a scratch is only going to affect whatever data was written to that area of the disc. It's very likely most if not all of the emails were recoverable.
Third, the IRS technician thought he could still possibly get data off it, but then it accidentally got shredded in an industrial shredder.

All of these lies and destroyed evidence are a little too convenient.

Unless you hate the constitution, because you support Banana Republics that oppress dissent.

The problem here is this could involve a lot of expense and they can argue there wasn't some big investigation at the time. They could even make the argument no one realized it was the only copies etc. The physical destruction of a drive is standard practice once it's deemed no longer useful.

As you say it's just a little too convenient but I'm not sure what you can do about it.

One thing that is clear, with all these email scandals the loss/destruction of data cannot happen again.

Common sense, half a brain, told you, everything was just way to sketchy. Just the words coming out of all the players, their mannerism their actions. Told us, something very wrong and not true, about what was being said.

Looking into the eyes of the liars, look into their eyes, you could tell, you were not getting the truth. Does it surprise any of you really, where the orders were coming from! knowing this administration, Really.

Tell us agin how obama was re-elected in 2012.
The banana republic was intro'd by Pelosi telling the country, we have to pass it to find our what is in it. Then torch carrier HRC tells us we have to elect her to find out her position on the pipeline....and there was no outrage by the media

Harry reid represented the coming out of the closet by the obama socialist agenda when he told admitted lies about MR in order to sway the election....and there was not a peep of outrage by the media

Holder judge shopped and lied to get warrant to persecute, not prosecute, a journalist and his family who exposed negative information about obama...and there was no outrage by the media

During a debate Candy Crawley imposed herself on the side of obama and spoke incorrect information against MR.....hardly a peep out of the media

So tell us how obama won a decided re-election.....label obama's political agenda anyway you want, realize it has the characteristics of a banana republic, have an academic argument over the legal definition of socialism, it matter not what you call it....we have an unethical administration that has gone far beyond the bounds of whatever faults occurred during previous administrations. The pattern of unarguable boldface lies stands alone as the hallmark of obama's time in office. the only way this administration could get away with all the lies is if they owned the media...just like a banana republic.

Except both congress and the IRS had ordered the hard drive and 422 back up tapes to be turned over - instead they were all physically destroyed.

Obama is corrupt.

LL's HDD was destroyed long before there was any order. This happened shortly after Camp sent the first letter which really wasn't specifically concerned with the tea party targeting.

The letter that supposedly led to the crash of Lois Lerner’s hard drive - The Washington Post

I'm not trying to justify it, just trying to point out they could make legitimate sounding excuses.

There is no legitimate excuse for not having those emails retained in an archiving system according to the law, available for FOIA requests.

Let's think about this rationally. Assuming this tax exempt status delay/denial was politically coordinated by the White House, why would they run an interference on Tea Party organizations? Democrats love Tea Partiers. Seriously. If it weren't for Tea Party superstars like Sharon Angle, Todd Akin, Christine O'Donnell, Richard Mourdock, and others, Democrats would have lost the Senate long time ago. Dems love them for moving the GOP ideology hard to the right in the primaries. Dems can then look like the more reasonable party. In summary, Dems hate RINO's but love the Tea Party. You will see Democratic operatives prancing gleefully whenever Ted Cruz and his ilk are in the news.

Do you really think they would care about the timing of Tea Party tax exemption approvals? If they want to "get" someone, there are a lot more effective ways to do so (e.g., commence an audit, or leak information from the 1040). In other words, this is such a stupid and tenuous way to punish Tea Party or whoever.

Moreover, don't forget that the IRS is a bureaucracy in every sense of the word. People don't get hired or fired with each administration change. Workers are there forever. So an incentive to do anything politically is very small.

I do agree that all the accidental data damage or erasure are absurd. They are making it look a lot worse than it really is.

Finally, there has been no evidence whatsoever of White House directive to do this. None.

Mick

Yes, I was confused, because the IRS has been caught lying so many times and delayed notification of the destroyed hard drive.

The 422 back up tapes were physically destroyed with a congress subpoena for them and an IRS order to hand them over. Ooops. The thing is, there was no need to destroy them, they were in storage and were not otherwise scheduled to be destroyed. Just a coincidence for the Obamabots.
