Pay any citizen under 40 $100 to undergo permanent sterilisation.

It's not PC, but it'll weed "in" those who probably shouldn't be breeding anyway. Less need to pay for others' birth control, fewer future welfare recipients or wards of the state/inmates. And all hinged on individuals' personal choices.

And of course, poverty and underachievement is cyclical, so by preventing those who'd trade in their fertility permanently for a quick Benjamin, we'd proactively reduce those reliant on government money for generations to come.

It'll be an investment at first, but it could make a positive difference in the long run.

$100?? I can't imagine anyone selling their ability to reproduce for such a low number. I figure $1,000,000 will do it.

Women can sell their eggs for far more than $100. It looks like the going rate is $8000.

Sounds very "Hitlerish" don't you think since he thought the Jews were a economic inconvenience also and inferior. Do you have any proof that " poverty and underachievement is cyclical"? You make it sound like it's genetic.

Such an idea smacks of desperation...and we aren't desperate.

Welfare should pay the same whether the recipient has zero kids or 15 kids. If you're going to have welfare, that's the only way it should be done. If anything there should be a reduction for every additional child the person has while receiving welfare.

That's how it works for a person earning a living. Their income is not based on how many kids they have and if they have more kids if anything it reduces their ability to earn more income.

Most people complete their families by age 40. This idea would save people money on birth control, but would do nothing to control population.
