If things are doing really good, does that also include giving credit to the Republican congress or just Obama (who remember hasn't been able to do anything at all for the past 5 years, they say, because of the gop-controlled Congress)? As a libertarian bystander, I'm just curious who gets what.

People put way too much credit and blame on parties. In reality the vast majority of them are controlled by either unions, corporations or special interest groups that donate to their campaigns.

The labor participation rate was lower for 30 years between the 1940's- 70's. It increased consistent with the baby boom entering the work force. It peaked in 1999/2000. It's been declining ever since and is projected to persist for 20 years no matter who sits the oval or holds the majority. Reasons:

Aging of population

Fewer women in the workforce

More young adults attending college
