I loved the idea of American Apparel. Just not the clothes.
Me too. I thought it was awesome that their factory was in an old manufacturing plant in downtown Los Angeles. The clothes were just lame looking though.
I challenge anyone to find clothes that are American made, even when I would purchase American made.
They are out there, I know the local Army&Navy has jeans made in the US. They also carry Carhart, most of their stuff is not made in US however they do have a few items and the very expensive fire resistant ones made in the US.
The existence and popularity of WalMart seems to be proof that most Americans would rather buy cheap than buy American. According to Forbes 80% of US consumers shop at Walmart at some time during the year.
It would be stupid not to. Why shouldn't we buy from the cheapest source (assuming the same quality)?
That's the problem, though. The quality is lacking.
For instance, I fly the American flag outside all the time. I still cannot find a decent (not sure what it's called) angled 'holder' or mount for the flagpole (on my fence).
The inexpensive flags (made in USA) come with the attachments (made in China). The attachments aren't even able to support the weight of the flag! They keep bending.
Right now I'm trying to come up with something else I can use; maybe some sort of plumbing item. Frustrating.

Ethics.
