Exactly wrong.
Our country was in financial crisis, which occurred because the Federal Reserve had been promoting loose money with excessively low interest rates for too long in the aftermath of the Dot.com bubble bursting and 9/11, and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had aggressively promoted the extension of government guaranteed home loans to people who could not afford them, which later went bust in massive numbers. The Fed is independent, but Republicans tried to fix the second problem in 2006, however their efforts were blocked by the Democrats, including Chris Dodd and Barney Frank.
Rather than fixing the problem, the Democrats under Obama have just made it worse. Banks are reluctant to lend to small businesses, because of the Democrats banking "reforms" (Dodd/Frank - the same names as before you will notice) and the Fed has re-inflated the same bubbles that burst in 2008, which are now poised to burst again.
Meanwhile, the US National Debt is over 18 Trillion dollars, much of which is owned by the Chinese and our enemies around the world. Actually, it is much more, but that is still an absolutely breathtaking amount to any responsible person. Of course the national debt continues to increase rapidly every day, and the Democrats oppose ANY cuts, except of course to our national defense.
Meanwhile, the unemployment numbers are a sham, as nearly everyone knows. Also, the Workforce Participation Rate is at 40 year lows and the stock market is looking awful, especially with the anchor of the melting down Chinese economy dragging it and the whole world down. The one real bright spot had been the oil sector, with its frakking breakthrough, but with the flagging world economy, that industry is under serious duress now and the layoffs already announced have been huge. And there will be more.
So, the economy is not strong. And Obama's foreign policy has made him and us an international laughing stock. In terms of freedoms for Americans, small businesses are groaning under the increased regulatory load, the IRS has distinguished itself by carrying out political intimidation campaigns against the enemies of Barack Obama and the Democrats, and freedom of speech and religion is under open assault across the land, with Democrats and the left proudly leading that effort, and that is especially so on university campuses, where leftists dominate.
In fact, it is you that must be the new immigrant here.
