It's supply\demand mechanics.

People getting scared sold and others spotting a good deal stepped in.

FWIW, just because you don't understand something doesn't make it bogus and manipulated.

People trade on emotion. I think this kind of wildness will continue for a while, until things return to normal. I am not sure if regular people in China are able to invest in the market, but if they are, I feel bad for them. They were new to the game, and a lot of people lost a lot of money.

What do the market analysts say about Chinese stocks? Are they a good deal, or still too high? People are saying this is a great buying opportunity, but is it really that great? 2009 was great, but back then the stocks were hammered. US stocks are not exactly hammered today, but the Chinese ones are. That's where the opportunity might be.

No, you're supposed to be embarrassed for being extremely ignorant and very open about it. You're supposed to be embarrassed by the bigoted and stupid statements you've made against half of the country.

LOL ...

The stock market has been heavily manipulated since the last crash. It's not supply and demand. It's deception and corruption. Just think ... Obama wanted Jon Corzine as treasury secretary ...

You think 1000 point daily swings are going to be the new standard?

Naturally. That's how they spew their hate of Obama.

Everyone who pays any attention to the stock market has known that a correction was coming. This is the way our faulty market system has always worked. Boom, bust, boom, bust. Fortunately, most of the busts are rather mild, not hardly unpredictable. The problem is that the market is no longer about, for example, faith in a company. It's all about exploiting every possible profit, even while ignoring the realities.

Exactly! and when I first started following things in the late Sixties it had topped out at just about 1000, then struggled for many years before finally surpassing that barrier once and for all in 1982.

In the light of changed, and constantly-changing markets, swings of hundreds of points are no longer all that rare.
