A lot of traders and senior management at institutional firms are out of office, as is common the last two weeks of August. So the volatility also reflects lack of liquidity or rash decisions made from Martha's vineyard

No one is around this week and people are worried about China manipulating its currency and the fed is almost certainly going to raise interest rates soon. This market crash is temporary.

Presidents do not control global or US markets.

That has not however prevented partisans from historically blaming presidents.

So far Fox's headline does not mention the president

I don't care for stocks, and I also don't need to care since my money has never been in stocks.
For those who have 401k, etc etc etc the stock market is an investment and also a place were rich people and thieves play with money in open public forum.

Normally stocks rise and fall over the years and the question is, will they rise again. What made them rise in the first place and do you think we hit 18,000 because of a solid investment reason. Or did money come cheap from the FED to keep it going.

If the FED can't print money anymore, and the FED can't borrow against the dollar without other effects. What do you think the result will be. :-) See china's devalue currency move. See prices rise, see US dollar devalued to "make things better for china" WHY? why would we destroy our purchasing power to help china. Because we borrow from china in order to keep this smoke and mirrors going and the us government spending like there is no tomorrow.

OK fine. Just like the '08 crash was Bush's fault.
