Anyway, probably the best self defense weapon is your cell phone. Dial 911. The responding cops will be heavily armed and highly trained in physical confrontation.
And, usually arrive long after you need them. I would rather take my chances with a gun in hand during a home invasion or rapist while waiting for the cops.
And for everyone that doesn't live that close, like the majority of people? And who calls them constables?

Best home self defense weapon -- a shotgun. (Kept unloaded, so no family member will be accidentally harmed.)

Didn't you just say that most people would have their weapons stolen and used against them?
Yup. So best to keep the shotgun unloaded, so that it can't be used against you or by a family member. There are no universal 100% guarantees in life, are there … ???
But … If I'm in my bedroom, and the burglar/invader is down the hallway, and he hears the -- chck - chck -- it is very, very unlikely that he will run toward the sound of the shotgun slide ...
