Mt. McKinley at over 20,000 feet was named for a man that never visited Alaska and now Obama will officially give the mountain back it's original name. Denali, Meaning "Great one or High one".

It is about time this happened.

McKinley was a republican. There's a nasty smelling landfill "mountain" here in NC that needs to be named after Obama. Mt. Obama!!

It should be Denali.

Are Mt. Hood and Mt. Rainier next? I hope so.

Hood and Rainier are named after British military officers who fought *against* the US. Wyeast and Tahoma are their proper names, and I use them whenever possible.

Alaskans have been asking for this for a long time and legislators from Ohio have been blocking it. So Obama took the reigns is only giving them what they want.

About time. Alaska has long petitioned to have the Feds change the name back to Denali and the Alaska Board of Geographic Names has always called it Denali.

This is an Alaskan issue and if that's what they want, then so be it.
