If we could ignore the fossil fuel industry and the frightened greenies we could start a new nuclear power industry based on full fuel reuse and breeding fissile materials from common elements. This would create a power source that would devour its own waste products and create more fuel than it uses. That is the real GREEN solution to supplying the energy demands of the future. Wind and solar are a diversion from solutions that might actually work.

I wouldn't say they are playing as they have invested in the production and implementation but I agree that China is looking towards nuclear long term. Solar is a good means, with nuclear or gas backing it up.

Again, it's not me saying this but people in the solar industry.

But they aren't serious, they know the global solar industry will be okay. They want to continue the domestic subsidy.

They didn't make you start this thread though.... You made that choice....

If they aren't serious then Congress can just ignore their request for an extension.

We will see. I hope they continue with the policy so America can maintain some semblance of being a major player globally. However, that is also on environmentalists who want to block building solar arrays in the vast domestic deserts and semi-arid environments because of some turtle or lizard.

There is a huge carbon "opportunity" cost to solar & wind as demonstrated by this simple graphic. Imagine what stripping 130,000 acres of land does to the environment. This is land that can't be used for food, forests, or other more productive purposes. Of course these sorts of "costs" are never considered. This is why solar is going no where without some sort of breakthrough in Physics and why it isn't viable without a lot of government (taxpayer) subsidy.

Hinkley Point C, for the factually challenged, is a part of a project in the UK to built 8 new nuclear complexes to supply power for the next 50 years in the UK.
