She is a clerk, nothing more. She doesn't perform the marriages and she's free to feel however she wants about the folks who come in. But as a CLERK she has to follow the law no matter her personal beliefs. Clerks simply take the info, make sure everything is correct, legal, up to date and sign it off. Not rocket science.
Let me correct you a bit. She is a registered democrat who was elected to be Clerk of Courts.
So you agree that this clerk should be able to deny people their Right to a marriage license based on her religious beliefs, right?
Ok, well, I have a question for you, and since the people who'd be most likely to support this clerk would be Conservatives, its a really good question.
Let's say you have a county clerk, or a sheriff, or some other issuing authority, who was a Quaker. Quakers are pacifists, they strongly oppose violence. Some even don't believe in violent self defense.
So say you have a sheriff refuse to issue Concealed Carry permits based on his strongly held religious beliefs...... Would that be ok? Why or why not? And if you think it's somehow different, please explain that as well.
If the people don't want a Quaker or anyone who does not represent the local community then the people don't vote them in.
No it's not. That's just you falsely testifying for me because you have no basis for your side of the discussion. She is not using force. She's not stopping them from getting a marriage license. She is however stopping government from forcing her to do something against her religious beliefs.
She is stopping some people from getting a marriage license. Kentucky law requires women under the age of 18 to obtain the marriage license in the county in which they reside. By refusing to issue marriage licenses she is stopping some people from getting a marriage license.

Kentucky law also requires marriages to be between a man and a woman.
Christians are also told to judge not, lest ye be judged. I guess Ms. Davis hasn't gotten to that part of the Bible yet, she being such a recent convert and all. Either that or she just cherry picks the parts she wants to follow and pretends the rest doesn't exist. Kind of like most fundamentalists I've known.
The Bible expects people to judge conduct and behavior as right or wrong and to not accommodate sin in their lives. What it tells people not to judge is people, as in hating them because of their sin. We are to hate the sin, but not the sinner, as we are ALL sinners and are dependent on the mercy and grace of God for our salvation through Jesus Christ.
Anyone who believes that the Bible teaches that we are not to judge anything, including behavior or conduct, is ignorant about what the Bible teaches on this subject.
Not necessarily. Filing separately has its advantages too.
Why is that rule in place? Shouldn't that be up to the patient?
Of course it has to do with her religious beliefs. That's her entire basis for refusing to give out a license.
Isn't issuing licenses a government function? So she's a government official who's decided that her religious beliefs trump everyone else's? That's not religious freedom. That's religious tyranny.
Ridiculous and ignorant observations. Ms. Davis' religion is none of your business, particularly considering the contempt in which your side holds people of faith.
Isn't Ms Davis making her religion our business, when she is interjecting it into her governmental role as a County Clerk?
And unless she resigns, I suspect she best get used to a life behind bars.
Leftist leaders will be pleading for her release if this starts heading in that direction. Watch and see.
