The job as part of the requirements is to issue marriage certificates.

If it's in the job description and she doesn't want to do it, then quite or be fired.

There doesn't need to be anymore discussed, really, at the end of the day.

that's a bit different than someone going into a job knowing what the job is, beforehand isn't it?
In the private sector, job descriptions change all the time - it has happened to me. So you walk if you can't handle it. Seems pretty cut-and-dry.

That being said, let's look at the job before and after:

Before: Issue marriage licenses to couples who fulfill the legal criteria.
After: Issue marriage licenses to couples who fulfill the legal criteria.

Yeah, not really seeing a big difference.

The job is very much not "Issue marriage licenses to couples who fulfill the legal criteria and who live up to my personal morals". If that's what she's looking for, church official is more her line.

Actually it is exactly how our government was designed to work. The people have a recourse. They can amend the constitution. That isn't going to happen so you'll either learn to live with it or not. You can emigrate.

That just happened. you cannot under any semblance of being honest say that did not happen.
I dunno - seems to me that 1967 is a ways back. You're talking about Loving v. Virginia, right?

its not true.

That is vastly different from the question asked.
Her consent is not required.

Maybe you should complain to them...
Yes, most States kept them on the books. You will find a whole host of unenforceable laws on the books in every State. Legislatures tend not to waste time changing laws that have been overturned, because they can no longer be enforced.

This is nothing more then a person who has their own belief's and is being stubborn about it. I don't care if its for Religious reasons or "just because" reasons. If you dont follow the law its simple you will be arrested and or whatever else the law says in accordance to your offense. If the LAW changed and you disagreed with the laws of the state then you can QUIT WORKING FOR THE GOVERNMENT. She is not going to do that because she in her own mind thinks she is doing GODS work. Its that simple so the government who she works for will handle this.

A JOB is not based on your personal beliefs. A job is based on what your boss or the people you work for TELL you to do. If dont agree with those laws or the workforce DECISIONS Quit your job if its that hard for you to Approve a marriage license.
NOW if you owned a business that is your own decision on how you want to conduct your business as long as those decisions don't remove the CONSTITUTIONAL rights of individuals. <---- Please note CONSTITUTIONAL!!! You can't demand someone has to MAKE YOU A WEDDING CAKE if they own the business that makes the cake. They just need to hire a SECOND person to handle different marriages and save the tax payers the trouble to paying for to eat 3 meals a day in a jail cell.

Christians, muslims, and just general people have issues with gay marriage and not all of them are for religious reasons.
The law of the united states says gay people can marry. You elected your congress and your president. Society decided marriage was a GOVERNMENT function. When you give the power of government to RULE on what love and marriage is you already LOST. So using government is the moral CODE for what anything is or is not was your first down fall.

In a free natural LAW society CLEARLY things like Murder, stealing etc are common laws. These were applied to many societies LONG before America. Gay Marriage and Marriage are religion and governments need to get people to REGISTER their LIVES and money as a GROUP. In doing so a place for government to approve "people" some LEGAL right of a TOGETHER TITLE.

Gays people are crazy and so are straight people. To love someone you don't need a government or religion to tell you that. I am pretty sure if GOD "CARES", God doesnt care if you love another human being or several human beings.
Don't kill things without reason, don't hurt each other and learn to be human. So far marriage is about being in a CLUB of which GOD and government believes you need approval for. Someone just cant stand not having SOMEONE with AUTHORITY SAY ITS OK!!!!

Gay people are looking for society to tell them its ok, and they need an authority figure to it. Christians and ETC believe the authority figure is GOD who is over government and government believes its over GOD. The laws of man are temporary laws, they change as man do. The laws of nature and natural law does not. Marriage is a term MADE by men.

No, her job description remains the same. The types of duties she has to attend to and how they are applied have changed is all.

Yep, it is illegal to eat ice cream on Sunday in Oregon, yet I'm sure ice cream shops are open on Sunday.
