Depends on what you mean by conservative.

Seattle was a hotbed of union activity. Similar to the coal mining regions in the east, there were armed confrontations, with both the union members and the companies they were organizing playing hardball. Unlike in the east, these unions are still alive and well.

I can only speak for my self. We bought a house in an area with the majority holding vastly different political views. We both had good jobs there and intended to sell the house in 5 years and leave. That was 2002. Then came the crash. Not wanting to walk away with zero equity or sell for less, we waited it out until prices went up in 2013. Now we are in an area that we like a lot, where the majority hold the same political views and are really much happier.
