They prefer to be in a wealthier country, such as Germany. They violated EU law in Hungary, and then they broke police lines to do whatever they want. Because they then disrupted traffic, Hungary put them on busses and drove them to the Austrian border.

The only people that violated law in Hungary are the thousands of Syrians who don't want to live in Syria, Turkey, or Hungary.
A person truly in fear for their life doesn't pick and choose who provides a safe haven, economic migrants do.

America is known as a safe haven as are several European countries. Why is this a bad thing?

Nothing wrong with that. The problem is that many of these 'refugees' want to pick and choose their 'safe haven' presumably on the basis of economic opportunity.

What exactly is wrong with wanting a better life for your family? I'm betting that's how the families of the majority of posters ended up in the U.S.

This article provides a bit of information about what happens when migrants arrive in Germany:

"After they are given food, water and a health check the new arrivals will be taken to one of four registration centres in Munich before they are given temporary accommodation.

Many are refugees from the civil war in Syria who embarked on the perilous journey now because travel through the mountainous Balkan region is too arduous in winter.

Among the refugees are economic migrants from poorer eastern European states such as Albania and Serbia, hoping for a better life in the west, according to Balkan expert Dušan Reljić.

Those wishing to apply for asylum will have their fingerprints and photograph taken by German authorities before they receive a temporary resident's permit.

Pocket money will be given for their personal daily needs along with basic provisions such as toiletries, clothing and basic provision of food.

Asylum applicants will be given an opportunity to give an account of their persecution during an interview accompanied by a translator and in the event their application is unsuccessful they will be formally served with a deportation notice and asked to leave the country.
According to Der Spiegel magazine, Germany has deported over 10,000 foreigners this year, many of them from countries it deems safe such as Serbia, Macedonia and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

What Now For Migrants Arrived In Germany?

The problem is picking and choosing which one is the one you're staying in. That's not how being a refugee works. My aunt's mom was a refugee who would have loved to come straight to America. However, she couldn't, so she went to the country she could legally go to.

Then when you hear that they're complaining about having to go to refugee camps, and it's even worse. I love immigrants (and am married to one) and have absolutely no problem with refugees, just for the record.

Isn't that what many of our ancestors did? Come to America for opportunity?

The issue is that if you are really in fear for your life, youre not going to be too picky about where you end up as long as its safer than the last place you were at.

Many of these "refugees" are making a straight beeline for the countries with the most generous welfare and public assistance policies which is why several nations have brought up the importance of distinguishing between those truly looking for asylum and those who are economic migrants.

Being from Europe originally and having family there, ive followed this situation closely, on one hand there is sympathy for people coming from war torn areas and simply trying to survive, on the other hand there is disgust at some folks that are coming with a sense of entitlement like "$crew you, you owe me this."

The president of Slovakia came out and basically said "we're willing to help but we dont owe anyone anything, we never had any colonies so dont point the finger at us."
