My kids, now teens, went through hunter safety and gun handling classes before 10. They've been home alone for quite a few years now in the summer since the Y and other programs are prohibitively expensive. Both know how to shoot every gun I own and that's a LOT.

I agree the World is more violent now, all the more reason to know how to handle a firearm.

911 works for most.

"Heaven forbid" he accidentally shoot her.

All statistics show that violence in the USA has DECREASED since the 1950s. The only reason people think otherwise is because of television.

That's subjective. My hood never had break ins or home invasions 30 years ago. It's had at least 10 in the last five years. I don't need the news for that.

It's cliche, but "when seconds matter, the police are minutes away." Average police response time is about 10 minutes, that's a LONG time if the attackers are already kicking in the door. So you'd prefer the kids be assaulted/raped/killed, so the police can show up just in time to clean everything up?

In 10 minutes any crime is all over. Our house was cleaned out in 5. The PD came later and took the report.

You are way ahead on this situation as there are conflicting stories, maybe this is the 1 in a billion case where it's a good decision to give an 11 year old a gun in self defense. We will see.
Nope, but you are ready to cede to the intruder...that is completely obvious...you would rather the intruder get what they want, no matter what happens to the children...

This child made a decision, why do you disagree with that decision?

Why do you side with the intruder?

I answered your 9, 5 question earlier....are you not able to comprehend?

Cops have no legal authority to protect you....So says the supreme court!

But don't let facts get in your way....
