I nominate Saddam Hussein, who, without really trying, helped bushco make a mess of America and the Middle East.

If you are taking an external point of view, with negative consequences (certainly could be viewed as legit), how can it be anyone besides Bin Laden?

He is a multiple impact guy, the 9/11 attacks, Homeland Security and Iraq. I don't believe the Iraq action ever would have happened if not for 9/11. If fact, I would even state that I am certain it never would have been supported.

I would second the person who said MLK. I know that the world I live in is waaaay different than the world my parents grew up in, when reading about Jim Crowe laws and seperate but equal, my kids think that it's so far-fetched that we must be dramatizing a bit...they can't understand how reasonable masses of people would support such policies and no one thought twice about it.

Please keep the thread clean.

Who and why please?

I am as I know many others are interested in other thoughts on who is the most influential person and not anything else but that in this thread.

So far we have had allot of good names and I would like to see more, but many will not post in this thread if they get hammered for comments.

I have my person but want to wait it out and see others before I post.

Depends if you mean positive or negative.
The A#1 negative would be Phil Donahue. Over nearly a generation he influenced the day time couch potato to accept lunacy as the fundamental mores of the left. No doubt about it. This man did more to legitimize and gain lunatic fringe acceptance of every manner of social degredation than any person in American history. Satan has a special seat in waiting for this boy.
The A1 positive would have to be the great...the fabulous...the uncontested ultimate human being of our day .............................to be announced.

Well, apparently it's Britney Spears.
Seriously, I would agree on Bill Gates. What if the computer did not exist?
