Since the Supreme Court has failed to follow the highest law in the United States by legislating, a function reserved solely to the Congress by the Constitution, are we now to obey laws so made?
Hello, Godwin.

PS. the supreme court did not make any law, they found one made by state unconstitutional, that is kind of their job.

Furthermore, this is not a material issue since any same-sex couple wishing to marry could simply go to a different city clerk in a neighboring county, but that wouldn`t accomplish what you really want which is to force your beliefs on religious individuals from cake bakers to photographers and now a city clerk.

Time after time we have seen the gay thought police destroy the lives of anyone who doesn`t regurgitate same-sex orthodoxy on cue, and now you complain about having other`s beliefs forced on you!

Your hypocrisy is duly noted.

If there are many who think the way you do, this country is in serious trouble. The Kim Davis issue is unbelievably simple. Her position requires the issuing of marriage licenses by law. She chose not to follow the law. The end.

I don't feel persecuted. I understand that I live in a big, diverse country where people have different ideas. I think all the craziness has been good for the church, our participation at mass is up something like 20% this year. It's getting hard to find a seat on Sunday if you get to church late.

1. The Supreme Court didn't make a law. They ruled that Kentucky's law banning same sex marriage was in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.

2, Going to another city or county is not the point. They wanted to get married in their county. They have the legal ability to get married in the county, and the clerk in charge refused to do so. The clerk has to issue licenses to any couple who are legally able to obtain one, she refused, pretty simple.

3. When you open up a business, there are certain rules and laws you must follow. If you can't follow those rules and laws, guess what don't have a business in which you come across those laws. Same in the case of the clerk. Her religious views interfere with her ability to do her job? Fine, she can RESIGN. She can also have others in her office issues the licenses. She refused to do so, and blocked their ability to issue the licenses.

The Supreme Court did not write a law. They interpreted the constitutionality of a law, which is their job as set out in the U.S. constitution. This is the same constitution that allows you to be a bigot, but doesn't allow you to push you bigoted views on others and control their rights.

That could be due to many factors.

At the same time, my home town Catholic church, which used to have 5 weekend masses, now has 1, and is threatened with closure.

But if Christians were allowed to sing carols in schools, all other religions would need to be allowed to practice their religion in school. Since there are over 1000 different religions in the US, when would they have lessons?

What you mean is that you think Christians should be considered "special".

All 4 couples (2 straight, 2 gay) who filed the suit live, work, and pay taxes in Rowan County. They are entitled to receive services from the government to which they pay those taxes.
Davis cannot selectively choose which services a government office will and won't provide to the citizens.
