NY OKs $15 Minimum Wage for Fast-Food Workers, First State to Set Minimum That High | NBC New York

and all the people who petitioned so hard for this will find themselves out of a job. Higher skilled workers who make less than $15 an hr will flock to FF restaurants, pushing out lower skilled worker.

then what?

How in the world do you determine only large chain fast food workers deserve a raise and no one else?

I'm going to be real interested to see what the final result will be.

I'm guessing it will be very difficult to get a fast food job in New York in three years.

As with Obama Cuomo is governing by his pen and thus getting around the NYS legislature. That body has not acted upon the governor's request to raise the NYS minimum wage via law for all so Cuomo turned to an obscure labor board that he controls. However this body only has power over fast food workers. NYS is a wacky place with all sorts of little heard of boards or otherwise unelected bodies of government whose true sole purpose is to get around various state laws/constitutional requirements. Indeed that is the main reason behind the numerous "public authorities" such as the MTA, Port Authority of NY/NJ and others. Those bodies can issue debt without going to the electorate for a vote something the state itself is forbidden by the constitution.

If this stands by the three and six years it takes to phase in the landscape of fast food restaurants is likely to change greatly.

So the guy changing tires will no longer be able to afford to eat out at McD's any longer.

The point is to increase unemployment, thus government dependency, thus eternal Democrat votes.

Every evil they do is by design.

It is the poor scheeple who think NYC fast food restaurants are going to pay barely literate or whatever nearly $32k per year to flip burghers or other work in FFR you want to feel sorry for. As the saying goes; be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.

Franchise owners that can afford to go with automation/new technology that will reduce worker numbers will do so. Job descriptions will likely change and probably will hiring requirements. If I had to pay $32k per year to any employee am going to look for something damn sight better than someone with just a high school diploma or GED. Am also going to give a pass to persons with less than ideal backgrounds including criminal records.
