The Alternative Left which is in reference to a movement called the Alternative Right is a new movement that rejects the modern Cultural Leftist and open borders fanatics. The movement in a sense looks to the old left with a focus on economic issues. They oppose extreme cultural leftism and open borders. However they do not embrace social conservatism either and reject right wing economics.
This would sound very right wing radical and bigoted to most liberals or "progressives".

Just going by the poll results a large portion support the Alt Left but I have no idea whether these people are all on the left. Many could be Independents/Centrist, or Anti-Establishment Rightest. The mainstream left is mixture of Neoliberal Economics with Political Correctness. But that is just the leadership of the left. I could see a lot of support from the rank and file. Bernie Sanders even flirted with the Alt Left when he criticized the H1-B Visas. Much of the old school left was protectionist and not in favor of massive levels of immigration.

I would suggest look up numbers USA where they give a report card to every congress member on immigration.

It's rare to find a democrat with an A or B. However there used to be some during the Bush era but thats; longer the case. A lot of the Blue Dog Democrats who got elected in 2006 such as Clair McCaskill and Jon Tester flip flopped on the issue.

I don't really see the point of trying to put labels on people and cram everyone into a category.

Life isn't static--it's dynamic and things change (sorry ultra-conservatives, but it does). External events change, the economy changes, people change. The "alternative left" seems like another dumb category and not any kind of movement.

How would your classify Ronald Reagan (proponent of 'open borders') and Bill Clinton (proponent of 'closed borders')? They don't seem to fit into your labeled boxes. So Reagan was actually 'alternative right' or 'alternative left'?

Ronald Reagan:
Rather than talking about putting up a fence, why don’t we work out some recognition of our mutual problems? Make it possible for them to come here legally with a work permit—and then while they’re working and earning here, they pay taxes here. And when they want to go back, they can go back. And open the border both ways by understanding their problems..."

Bill Clinton: This week, I sent strong legislation to Congress to try to stop those abuses, to secure our borders in the future, and to speed up deportation of illegal immigrants. Our immigration policy is focused in four areas: first, strengthening border control; second, protecting American jobs by enforcing laws against illegal immigrants at the workplace; third, deporting criminal and deportable aliens; fourth, giving assistance to States who need it and denying illegal aliens benefits for public services or welfare..."

Throughout history there has been two ways to exist. One is no government beyond family, clan and tribe with nearly unfettered freedom for the warrior males to strict feudal tyranny with no freedom for anyone but the King. This has evolved to near anarchic international criminal terrorism and to the horror of State tyranny like North Korea.

Anarchy does not work because nobody is around to enforce paying their bills or even making a currency. It rapidly becomes a thug based tyranny. The other direction is the State owning everything and that also become a thug based tyranny.

The Western World, having, along with may other cultures, gone down this same road a few times has worked out a way to get the bills paid without resorting to either a Rightist Thugocracy or a Leftist Thugocracy. This system of limited freedom and limited control is not stable so we have to be careful of wanna be thugs from either side. Our current problem is the opposing sides are so divided they might let a thug in accidentally.

The Alt Left Position on Race:

"The movement is already rather split into at least two wings: a much more race-oriented Alt Left (Rabbit’s wing at Altleft.com), and my wing, which is not so race-oriented. The other wing is more or less Left White Separatists, White Nationalists, or if you have it White Supremacists. They are Left on most everything except race. But they talk in a very mild and unoffensive way about race nevertheless."
