Look at all these people who strongly support Obama's Iran deal even though they know absolutely nothing about it. When asked about specifics, of course they reply with vague non-sense.

All they need to know is that it came from their messiah, therefore it must be good.

We see this over and over. Somewhere along the line we stopped teaching critical thinking skills. It is utterly amazing how these people function day-to-day.

Same can be said about Conservatives who are against it because their on air heroes told them to be against it even though they have no idea what is actually in the deal.

Having seen some of the arguments presented against the deal on this board, I'm not sure conservatives can claim they're occupying the intellectual high ground here.

Shall we review the many clips of GOP Senators and Congressmen who came out against the bill before they'd even SEEN IT?

They aren't.

They hate the deal because Obama likes it and because they feel as if a potential war with Iran got thwarted. If I took a mic out on the streets and asked Joe Blow Conservative why he or she opposes the deal, I'd hear nothing but gibberish.

It allows unfettered continued development of ICBMs which have only a single practical purpose (to deliver a nuclear warhead) and the most important restrictions sunset in 10 years, which means if future administrations choose to honor the deal it basically is agreeing to let Iran become a nuclear turnkey state in 10 years; nuclear threshold with the ability to nuke us as soon as they get a long enough range on the missiles.

It's a really bad deal in the long term if your goal is make sure Iran isn't ever capable of dropping a nuke on DC or NYC.

Iran will NEVER be in the position to "nuke the U.S." even if they HAD such a weapon. New advances in laser technology and anti-missiles missiles are on the verge of making such weapons obsolete.
Not to mention the "retaliation" aspect. If the mighty U.S.S.R. - with THOUSANDS of such weapons didn't dare attack us, why the hell do you think puny little Iran would do so.

The GOP argument is just stupid and ignorant fear-mongering. I swear, Rightwingers are afraid of EVERYTHING. What a bunch of chickensh*ts

"Laser technology?" The only place a giant laser is knocking an ICBM out of the sky is in science fiction.

Missile defense is a thing but it's not perfect and in the real world the success rate will likely be lower than in the tests in simulated conditions meant to secure military contracts.

The very fact that we're now topically discussing whether or not a theocracy is more likely to press the button and/or pass nukes on to non-state actors than a communist state is (we both have our opinions I'm sure but lacking data it's just a gut instinct on both sides) -- and not whether or not this deal will eventually enable that -- says everything.

It doesn't HAVE to be "perfect". It just has to be "good enough" to DETER an attack.
Iran will NEVER have the wealth to build a massive nuclear missile arsenal big enough to EVER threaten the U.S.
We, on the other hand, could nuke every population center in Iran many times over.
The Iranians know that as well as we do.

The U.S. will NEVER be under nuclear missile threat from Iran.
North Korea has such weapons and we're not exactly cowering in fear. Same would be true IF Iran DID get the bomb - which they won't.
