Glad they arrived safely. More and more Cubans are making landfall as relations have renewed.

It's a problem, but they're far, far less of a threat than the Islamic "refugees."

If Cuba is so great and we renewed relations, why are they still coming here and why are we still letting them in?

That's what I was wondering. What are they supposedly escaping from now?

The more the merrier. The Cuban people have contributed so much to this country and have given Florida such a unique cultural flare. For decades, conservatives have belittled the Cuban migrants thinking they would bring some terrible fate to Florida and they have only enriched it.

OH, please, they hop on the welfare wagon as soon as they hop off the boat! One of the funniest things I've ever read on this site was when a Cuban woman posted in illegal immigration, and was asking everyone to send a letter to (I don't remember who) and tell them that it wasn't fair that the illegals from Mexico get so many more freebies than the Cubans from Cuba, and the Cubans should get just as many freebies as they do. A bunch of illegals stealing over the border, fighting over who gets the most freebies. We need to stop the stupid "Wet foot, dry foot" saying too. It sounds like a nursery rhyme.

"Everybody knows they are economic refugees and have been for a long time," said Vivian Mannerud, president of Airline Brokers, a Miami travel agency that books flights to Cuba.
"We cannot keep giving all the benefits to people coming from Cuba who have not paid a penny into the system, especially at a time when Congress is talking about taking benefits from people who have been paying into the system for years," added Mannerud, who is of Cuban descent."

Three of my immediate co-workers are Cuban immigrants, and probably 20% of the office is of Cuban descent. Not only are none of them on government, but none of their grown children are either. The people who are on government assistance should be thankful for them paying taxes!

For the most part the Cubans in Florida have not assimilated linguistically in this country. Many may speak English but still use Spanish as their primary language of usage. Ever heard of "Little Havana"? I don't call turning an entire city into the place you left behind an enrichment.
