The most likely explanation remains that the school and police reacted to the kids ethnicity.
Hypothetically, let's say a white kid was given a creative writing assignment that was to be done as if he were posting to Facebook. Now, let's say the kid wrote that his neighbor got a pet dinosaur which he felt was scary and therefore used a gun to take care of business and shoot the dinosaur. If the school called the police, the police then searched the kid, his locker and his backpack followed by arresting him because he wrote about using a gun to shoot a dinosaur, would you say that was most likely racism or the school going overboard?
We see nonsense like this at schools all the time, be it a 2nd grader who nibbled his pop-tart into a gun or the little girl who brought a butter knife along with her birthday cake to school (the teacher used the knife to cut and serve the cake and then sent the girl to the principal to be suspended). The problem is that we have schools and even police constantly overreacting. We seen the incidents with sporks and with kids making finger guns and saying bang.
My guess is that if any of these other incidents had involved Muslim students, they would have immediately been about prejudice reactions to Islam.
I think it's a pretty good assumption Ahmed got in trouble for his hoax bomb and it just happened to be that he was a Muslim.

Yes, I remember that and it is why I said this is a big problem that goes well beyond race or religion.
This may be a tad OT but it still relates to the context of the issue here ... For about a thousand years the
Christian Church murdered people for the simple fact they didn't and/or refused to follow the "correct" religion(Catholicism for the most part), not too long ago in Northern Ireland CHILDREN were killed simply because they followed the WRONG form of Christianity.
Sorry but any religion that teaches "God" wants you to kill everyone that believes differently than you should be killed isn't much of a religion and their "God" is very insecure.

Then I'm sure you'll agree that we should not allow Muslims to live in this country.
They still kill in order to enforce their religious orthodoxy.
They aren't doing it yet in this country, but that's only because they are a small minority.
