ACA does not address drug affordability. In fact, under Barack Obama's healthcare "reform," the US government is PROHIBITED from negotiating prescription drug prices.

Look it up if you don't believe me. Keyword: Billy Tauzin and Barack Obama backroom deal

Sounds like you got bamboozled by the half-black guy once again.

No complete details on her plan, but so far the ones being stated dont strike me as unreasonable.
uhm

the 17% are probably the ones who see the truth...anytime the government negotiates anything...the people get screwed

why not deregulate it... let me buy my perscriptions from Canada, or India, or Sweden....why is the government continuing to OVERREGULATE the drugs that are available to america

BTW been going on for longer than you think...first link is from the 1990's

its AGAINST THE FEDERAL LAW to buy drugs from outside the country

Import Policy and Information by Product

Policy on Importation of Drugs (1998)
The United States Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (Act) (21 U.S.C. section 331) prohibits the interstate shipment (which includes importation) of unapproved new drugs. Thus, the importation of drugs that lack FDA approval, whether for personal use or otherwise, violates the Act. Unapproved new drugs are any drugs, including foreign-made versions of U.S. approved drugs, that have not been manufactured in accordance with and pursuant to an FDA approval. Under the Act, FDA may refuse admission to any drug that "appears" to be unapproved, placing the burden on the importer to prove that the drug sought to be imported is in fact approved by FDA. Absent evidence that the specific drugs sought to be imported from a foreign country/area have been manufactured pursuant to an approved new drug application, in the manufacturing facility permitted under the application, such drugs would appear to be unapproved new drugs subject to FDA enforcement action.

Imported, Counterfeit, and Unapproved Drugs

=======================

all in the name of liberal big government watching you safety

here is one on a speccific drug
Counterfeit Versions of Cialis tablets identified entering the United States
FDA is alerting consumers and health care professionals that counterfeit versions of Cialis 20 mg tablets were found in the mail on its way to a U.S. consumer. While this shipment was stopped, FDA is concerned about other possible mail shipments to consumers. FDA laboratory analysis showed the counterfeit versions contain multiple active ingredients, which if used could result in adverse effects or harm. Consumers should only buy prescription medicines from state-licensed pharmacies located in the U.S.

this is why....the big nanny government must keep you safe....even if it costs you 5000% more

Why didn't Hillary address that? Because she would be on the record in opposition of a key component of Big Pharma's reason for supporting Obamacare. She'd also be on the record as opposing Obamacare as written.

She's a crony. You are being bamboozled. AGAIN.

Um... this is an extension of the policy that came in to being when Bush prevented government negotiation of RX back during his term with Medicare Part D.

The result is that "private" health insurance companies negotiate with the RX manufacturers.

But yes, the government should be able to directly negotiate the way every other civilized country in the world can. Especially when it's paying the bill.

Well, counterfeit drugs ARE a problem. A woman in Canada died from imported drugs from India that turned out to be counterfeit.

Turns out that the manufacturer was using powdered silt left over from manufacturing to serve as its filler for the pills. Lovely ingredients such as high levels of strontium were found in the pills.

Again, however, doesn't explain why the Canadian government can negotiate for lower prices for the same drugs with the same quality standards as American drugs... but the US government cannot.

Absolutely not. ACA was its own stand-alone law. It has NO connection to Medicare. A separate backroom deal was necessary to get Big Pharma to support ACA. Barack Obama and Billy Tauzin collaborated on this crap.

You can blame Bush for lots of things, but this dastardly deal is not one of those things. Barack Obama and Democrats OWN this.

Yet she also recently voiced that she would defend Obamacare also.

"The U.S. Kefauver Harris Amendment or "Drug Efficacy Amendment" is a 1962 amendment to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.

It introduced a requirement for drug manufacturers to provide proof of the effectiveness and safety of their drugs before approval,[1][2] required drug advertising to disclose accurate information about side effects, and stopped cheap generic drugs being marketed as expensive drugs under new trade names as new "breakthrough" medications."

You are kidding?
