On September 14, local media reported that an appeals court and Saudi Arabia's Supreme Court had upheld the death sentence of Ali al-Nimr for participating in protests four years ago. He was 16 at the time. Today, he awaits the execution of his sentence, which stipulates that al-Nimr should be beheaded and that his headless body should be strung up for public display.

Among the "crimes" for which al-Nimr was convicted were "breaking allegiance with the ruler," "going out to a number of marches, demonstrations, and gatherings against the state and repeating some chants against the state," and using his cell phone to incite demonstrations.

A 16 year old boy joined protests...and now is to be beheaded and crucified, in Saudi. And THIS is the country the enlightened leadership of the United Nations are putting in charge of the UN Human Rights Council? Really? The world is a truly insane place when stuff like this happens. Way past time to toss the UN out of NYC and for the US to resign and quit funding their pathetic acts.

The UN has turned into a complete farce, it's dominated by anti-American, anti-Western countries who do things like criticize the Israeli "occupation" of Palestine while completely ignoring the Chinese occupation of Hong Kong, Tibet, Macau, and Xinjiang in direct defiance of the international concept of self determination.

Apparently, according to the UN, colonialism and imperialism are ok only as long as it's not the US, Israel, or a Western European country behind it. China, Russia, India, Indonesia, etc can make all the landgrabs they want

If you thought the "Human Rights Commission" was bad, go check out the so called "Decolonization Committee". Endless babble about the British "colony" of Bermuda which is 95% self governing but not one peep about the Russian conquest of Crimea. British Gibraltar has been waiting for 10 years now for this "committee" to tell them what aspect of their 2006 constitution falls short of full self government under the British crown. Not one peep. Apparently the committee thinks decolonization means becoming part of Spain against the wishes of the people of Gibraltar.
