Or maybe....just maybe we could have higher taxes on the richest who pay historically low rates currently? GASP! You know, things like getting rid of the carried interest loophole, or taxing unearned income at the same rate as those actually working?

But no, your idea is to go after social services.

Tax revenue is at an all time high right now. And yet the debt is growing faster than ever. And you think the solution is to tax more and spend more?

No, the spending is out of control. The US is not some kind of bottomless charity money pit. You will never bring everyone out of poverty no matter how much money you spend. Stop putting future generations in unrecoverable debt just to chase your liberal fantasy paradise.

Oh, and the "rich" you keep mentioning, already pay most of the tax revenue. They're already paying far more than their "fair share".

They already pay a higher percentage of income tax revenue than their share of the income. Give a cogent reason why they should pay even more.

And Medicare? That people pay for seperately?

Soo handout spending...that people seem most upset by is welfare, and food stamps....which is in fact a trivial amount of the budget.

So of interest is that you include social security-given that it is in fact not part of the budget.

Why do that? Ohhh because it fits your narrative.
I agree, Greywar.

I "deposited" money into social security for 42 years. Now I am having those savings returned to me.

Likewise, I deposited money into the Medicare system. Now I am using those savings.

If people like Neko Mimi can't see that, it should be permanently taken away from them. That's how they'll "get" it.

You didn't deposit anything, the money taken from you went immediately to pay for something/ someone else.
Today's workers are now paying your bills.

Apparently you have no concept as to how "insurance" works. And I would suggest that if you don't believe in social security and medicare that you be brave and courageous and turn it down when it's your turn...for the good of the nation.

It's bad enough that retired folks have to watch their money.
SS is now taxed at certain levels.

And now you want pensions, annuities, dividends, rent, inheritance and 100% of SS taxed as regular income ?

These people are on fixed incomes and usually have to cut back when prices rise.
The Fed thinks there's no inflation so SS isn't getting any COLA next year.
Yet prices at the supermarket continue to rise. Property taxes continue to rise.
Utilities continue to rise in cost.

Should people just hand over all their money to Uncle Sam ?

Sure I do, but regardless the Supreme Court says SS is not "insurance" so take it up with them if you don't believe me.
